 Cost Centres

Cost Centres are used to group items together for reconciliation against accounting systems.
They are assigned to Material Codes and Other Costs throughout the system.
This video will show you how to maintain the Cost Centre libraries.

 Material Codes

Material Codes are the top level material grouping standard for structural steel members.
Exampes include WB (Welded Beam), PFC (Parallel Flange Channels) etc.
This video will show you how to maintain the Material Code libraries.

 Material Sizes

Material Sizes are the individual member sizes for structural members.
All Material Sizes belong to a Material Code, for example WC400*400*361 belongs to the Material Code WC.
This video will show you how to maintain the Material Size libraries.

 Material Grades

Each material size is assigned to a material grade.
This video will show you how to maintain the Material Grade libraries.

 Surface Finish Treatments

Surface Finish Treatments consist of material costs and labour costs.
Any combination can be added together to produce detailed surface finish buildups for your estimates.
This video shows you how to enter paint material and labour rates.

 Lookup Tables

Lookup Tables are used in conjinction with the Other Costs module to provide greater flexibility when setting up the costs against your estimates.

 Material Description Catalogues

Material Descriptions are used to control material adustments - bolt count, fittings weight and fabrication hours - against material entered into an estmate.
The number of Material Descriptions you can have is limitless, providing ultimate pricing flexibility and a high degree of accuracy.
This video will show you how to maintain the Material Description libraries.

 Price Catalogues

Price catalogues contain material prices for your estimates.
You can have multiple price catalogues and re-price estimates at any time.
Adjusting values in a price catalogue will automatically re-price any estimates using the catalogue.
This video will show you how to maintain the Price Catalogue libraries.

 Material Adjustment Catalogues

Material Adjustments are used to fix the bolt quantity, fittings weight and Fabrication hours against Material Descriptions.
You can have multiple Material Adjustment Catalogues to quickly re-calculate estimates against various scenarios.
Adjusting values in a Material Adjustment Catalogue will automatically re-price any estimates using the catalogue.
This video will show you how to maintain the Material Adjustment libraries.

 Setting up Estimates

How to set up a new Estimate.
This video explains the various steps involved in selecting the correct price and material adjustment catalogues, and Other Costs, for your Estimate.

 Copying Estimates

You can copy whole estimates to new ones.
This video will show you how to do this quickly and easily.

 Estimate Surface Finishes

This video will show you how to build up single or multiple coat paint finishes for your Estimate.
You will see how to add labour costs to the materials to result in a single, easy to apply finish code.

 Material Entry Screen Overview

The Material Entry Screen is a key component of Steel Estimator in it's flexible functionality, usability and customisation options.
This video covers all 4 main panels of the screen - the Work Categories Panel, the Toolbar, the Material Entry Screen and the Warning Panel.
For a quick overview of each component separately, select one of the videos below.

Material Entry Screen - the Work Categories Panel

Work Categories are sub-divisions of an estimate that can be used to price and evaluate separate parts of an estimate - typically Phases, Floors, areas of differing complexity etc.
This video will show you how to make new, and edit existing, Work Categories.

Material Entry Screen - the Toolbar

The toolbar on the Material Entry screen is the utility which can provide your personalisation of the way you use Steel Estimator.
You can copy and paste material across Work Categories, export data to multiple formats, customise the view row and header heights, and save all your customisations to any number of views for future use.
This video will show you how to get the best out of the toolbar functions.

Material Entry Screen - Adding Material

One of the main stengths of Steel Estimator is the speed and flexibilty of manually entering material.
This video will show you the key techniques on how to enter your material in the most efficient manner.

 Other Costs - the Basics

This video shows you the basics of how Other Costs are built up.
You should follow this by watching the Add Other Cost video, which looks at each aspect in more detail.

Other Costs - Adding a New Template

This video show you how to add a new Other Cost Template, and how to use the material filters to collect the information you need to allocate to the Other Cost.

Other Costs - Using in an Estimate

This video shows you how to add, delete and edit Other Costs in an Estimate
